Memorable Memoir Audiobooks
Sometimes, as the saying goes, truth is stranger than fiction. Memoir is one of the most popular nonfiction genres and it’s obvious why: every life if different, everyone’s perspective is different. Memoirs give us insight to other people’s lives including the ups, downs, and the simply bizarre. It’s not just celebrities who have interesting stories to tell, even the most seemingly ordinary life can be extraordinary. We’ve put together a list of some memorable memoir audiobooks to make you laugh, think, and nod in recognition. Most are narrated by their authors so you’ll truly be hearing their stories in their own words.

On Writing. A Memoir of the Craft by Stephen King
Narrated by the author
On Writing is an unusual mixture of memoir and writing guide, in which Stephen King shares insights on the process of writing. It was the first book that he published after the car accident that almost took his life.
Coming from a poor working-class background, and raised by his mother after his father fled, King found in writing a way to earn a living. But he came a long way, struggling with low paying jobs until he had his breakthrough with Carrie, his first novel.
Once an established writer, King had to deal with alcohol and drug abuse in the 80’s, before finally sobering up in the late 90’s. He was in the middle of writing this book when he was run over by a truck. The second half of the book is moving account of how his need to write gave him the strength to go through the long recovery.
